The Pla de Bages appellation, consisting of 26 boroughs in the Bages county, stands out from the other appellations for the varieties grown. The most obvious expression of this distinctiveness is the native variety Picapoll, which gives fruity wines with a pleasing fragrance, splendid texture and enormous personality.

Other commonly used varieties are Ull de Llebre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sumoll for the red wines, and Picapoll Macabeu and Chardonnay for the white wines.

Other less grown varieties are Pinot Noir, Garnatxa, Malbec, Sauvignon and Syrah.
